About Us

Active4All was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee in February 2005 by 3 keen believers that sports facilities in Lanarkshire were both poor in quality and dismal in accessibility.

The 3 were the inaugural Directors of the Company and set out to develop better facilities for people with disabilities and those living in deprived communities.

In June 2005 Active4All was recognised as a charity in Scotland.

The charity was created to meet the needs of people who may be disabled or who may come from deprived communities and have limited access to sports and other activities to help them achieve their potential and meet their ambitions.

The Trustees have had experience first-hand - (either personally or with direct family) of serious health issues; issues relating to deprivation; issues relating to soldiers suffering from what was known as the Gulf War Syndrome; serious mental health difficulties; physical health challenges; and have seen the waste created by organisations throughout the UK which otherwise could have been used to better ends.

Active4All is now run by a select group of Trustees who oversee the Management Team.

Active4All developed the use of waste tyres to reduce "Waists" in a project run 4 years ago. Used tyres were used as a no-cost alternative to providing training and exercise equipment which otherwise could cost thousands.

From this, the skills were used to develop a re-use project to recover building materials which otherwise would be sent to landfill. The reasoning was that such materials could be used to build the World Class Centre of Excellence, and with voluntary help, would reduce the costs of the big build.  As such, it would be by far the biggest self-build project in Europe.

The recyling of building materials is growing quickly and we now trade as Yooz.
